Feeding Fishes at Roanoke Lake - Abstract - by artist ~ANTFeeding the Fishes at Roanoke Lake

by ~ANT

Feeding the Fishes at Roanoke Lake was inspired by the artwork Feeding the Fishes at Wilmington Pond. Wilmington Pond and was created from ANT’s work with One Day Paintings. ANT has been working with one day paintings to further practice painting technique, layout, and design.

Of the first set one day paintings, Wilmington Pond has been a favorite. Scott and Karen approached me about working this 12” x 18” artwork to a much larger size. I had already tried to reproduce this painting in the one day painting style using different colors and was unsuccessful. The idea to repeat Wilmington Pond on a larger scale is very intriguing and appealing because the way the piece was created was in one fell swoop.

At the scale of this piece, 32” x 40” the same techniques cannot be used because the paint dries so quickly making this job a unique challenge. Not only do I get to fall back on my experience, but at the same time learn new tips and tricks further enhancing, deepening my experience, and skill level.

Feeding the Fishes at Roanoke Lake is the beautiful result of working Wilmington Pond into a larger piece. Roanoke Lake is another step in my progress as an artist and was extremely enjoyable to work on. This wasn’t just because of the painting process, but also because of the continued growth of the relationship between not just my brother and I, but also with his wife Karen. Scott and I have struggled at times to communicate effectively. To create this piece, the communication needed to produce it would show how far we have come and even further confidence in each other for continued growth.
