Jes was involved in the whole process of the painting. From the beginning she had a rule: Don’t paint the photo, paint how you, ANT, see me. I figured a good way to start would be to use Jes’s current favorite color orange as my base color and her favorite complimentary color blue.

Jes has this intensity, a fire, this deep passion with a laugh that can pop from anywhere. Take those traits, include getting to know her over the last four years as my neighbor and mix it all up. I painted Jes as I see her... the longer you look, the more you are drawn in.
